What better way of paying homage to most people’s favourite time of the year with a song such as ‘Summer Life’. For the clubs however, we have remixes from Style Of Eye, Gigamesh and Viceroy. Style Of Eye achieves a clean, multi-faceted main room remix, which drops in the biggest of ways when you least expect it, and one that you’ll find yourself returning to again and again. Gigamesh is on devastating form, turning out inimitable, bumping disco house while Viceroy creates a balmy, blissed out version.
Hailing from the grey industrial suburbs of Paris, the now east London-based The Penelopes return with new single ‘Summer Life’, set for release on Monday 16th July - following the successful release of ‘Sally In The Galaxy’ in April.
Produced by The Flight (Lana Del Rey, Björk, Bowie) and Dan Grech-Marguerat (The Vaccines, Scissor Sisters and Keane’s latest #1 album), ‘Summer Life’ is drenched in sun-kissed melodies, loaded with an undeniable French charm. Perhaps best illustrated in the track’s sweeping chorus, the lyric ‘I love the summer’ captures their charismatic, hushed vocals. Combined with sparkling arpeggios and blanket pad synths, The Penelopes effortlessly create multi-layered, summertime pop music at its finest.
